Welcome to the exciting world of the First Kankurang Festival 2018! This remarkable event not only brought together over 80 European visitors from many countries but also fostered lasting relationships and encouraged repeat visits.

Explore Hidden Hiking Trails from Janjanbureh Island!
5.5km: 4hrs 30mins
Ferry to the North Shore then heading west through the village. Through gardens to the river. Along the river and through a large rice field. At end of rice field crossing river to Pankun Island.
Return by passenger boat.
12km: 4hrs 30mins
From JJB with the Ferry to the north shore, then heading east to opposite of the end of the Island, climbing the Koli Bolong mountain (hill 30m) and hike along the rice fields to a village. From there return to the river and by passenger boat to JJB.
13km: 4hrs 30mins
From JJB heading west to end of Island (Ndandu). Passing the ruins of former Bird Safari Lodge. Returning same way to JJB. Total 13km 4hrs 30.
13km: 4hrs 30mins
From Janjanbureh on the Mc Carthy Island heading East to Kumbanyerr (End of Island). Returning same way.
11km: 4hrs 30mins
3.5h Hike over the JJB Bridge, heading east, passing rice fields and bushland into the Kunkilling Forest Park. Return by passenger boat to JJB. The tour is 70% easy walking, however 30% is walking on bumpy surface due to hippo traces. Sun protection and water, a min. of
1.5l is obligatory.

From JJB over the bridge heading west, crossing River Gambia by passenger boat, returning to JJB on Island south shore to Sitaba Lodge and back to JJB.
